The Laboratories are designed to satisfy the requirement industry has for technical support. The organisation provides technical solutions through access to expertise, laboratory facilities, research, and technical training courses.

Additionally, it provides support through technical conferences and networks, together with assistance in setting up collaborative projects both B2B and with universities or other RTOs. The laboratory is known for its independence, and the accuracy and dependability of its work.

The facilities include photometry, radiometry, spectrometry, thermography, optical fibre test and measurement, high speed imaging, environmental and mechanical stress, micromachining and laser ablation capabilities. Photonics Cluster (UK) provides commercial solutions and opportunity through assistance in locating appropriate project funding, provision of trade exhibitions, technology and Intellectual Property workshops, networking activities, support for overseas trade and technology missions, and supply chain improvement opportunities.
