Funding R&D — Skills and Technical Support

Photonics Cluster formed in 2000 and is located on the Aston Science Park. The Cluster has grown from a handful of members to a core of nearly 200 at the present time, and has built relationships with over 5000 businesses, Research and Technology Organisations, universities and other Higher Education establishments.

In that period, the organisation has successfully completed projects with over 600 companies and has leveraged funding in excess of £4Million to assist the industry. Photonics Cluster works with clients in photonic applications ranging from the infra-red through to the visible and the ultra-violet in industries as diverse as transport, defence and security, medical and food sciences, ICT, precision engineering and communications.

The focus for the organisation is in providing the clients with routes to technology, routes to skills, routes to funding and finance, and realising the benefits provided by the significant knowledge bank built up over several years.
